Pulsed-Laser Photoacoustics

Pulsed-Laser Photoacoustics

Pulsed-Laser Photoacoustics measures the rapid volumetric changes that occur in solution on the absorbance of a brief flash of laser light. The volume changes create an acoustic wave which is detected using an ultrasonic transducer. The resulting waveform can be analyzed for the magnitude of the volume change as well as its kinetics. This technique has seen use in a wide variety of research fields, including photosynthesis, visual pigments, heme proteins and very rapid conformational changes in proteins.
The PAS 1000™ The FLASH 300™
Quantum Northwest makes two products for pulsed-laser photoacoustics:

1. FLASH 300 with photoacoustics option - The FLASH 300 is a temperature-controlled cuvette holder designed for laser spectroscopy. A photoacoustics option enables the mounting of an ultrasonic transducer for acoustic detection of events initiated by a pulsed laser.

2. PAS 1000, Instrumentation and Software for Pulsed-Laser Photoacoustics - The versatile PAS 1000 provides all of the hardware and software you need to make a high quality pulsed-laser photoacoustics measurement except for the laser, the computer and the sample. Set up the PAS 1000 in your laboratory and immediately begin making measurements.
Quantum Northwest provides temperature-controlled cuvette holders and photoacoustic instrumentation
