LC 600™

The LC 600™ is a temperature-controlled six-position linear changer for use in absorbance spectrophotometers (including circular dichroism). Magnetic stirring is provided under each cuvette and a dry gas purge may be used to dry gas on the cuvette windows to prevent condensation when working at low temperatures.

Rapid, precise Peltier control over a wide range of temperatures*
Variable speed magnetic stirring under each cuvette
Dry gas purge
Optional remote computer control
TC 125 temperature-controller included

Description
The insulated temperature-controlled body of the LC 600™ holds up to six standard 10 x 10 mm square cuvettes. Two 10 x 10 mm optical ports on opposite sides of each cuvette permit the passage of the spectrophotometer beam. The height of the optical center from the bottom of the cuvette is 8.5 mm to permit the use of standard microcuvettes requiring this dimension. A stirring magnet below each cuvette permits magnetic stirring to minimize temperature gradients in the cuvette.

The temperature-regulated cuvette holder contains a thermoelectric cooler (Peltier device) for controlling the temperature. Circulating water (or other fluid) passes through a heat exchanger to draw off the heat generated by the cooler. Dry gas may be directed through small holes in the optical ports next to the exposed cuvette windows. The dry gas may be used to limit condensation when working at low temperatures. An opaque lid can be placed over the tower and cuvette. The cuvette holder is matched to a specific temperature controller and calibrated against a NIST-traceable thermometer. Calibration data are provided.

Translation to change samples uses a lead screw driven by a stepping motor. The LC 600™ requires external computer control to translate. This may be accomplished through the spectrometer software (if such control is currently available) or through the Serial Control option. This linear changer is currently available for Olis instruments and the Cary 300. If there is adequate space, we will be pleased to adapt it to any other spectrometer.
